Martha Trent Plaintiff: Vs. Petition In Equity. Ranz Trent Defendant ************************************************ The plaintiff Martha Trent states that she and the defendant Rans Wright were legally married and became husband and wife in Rowan County, Kentucky on the 19th day of March 1904 that they were both residents of Rowan County, Ky at the time and that she is now and has been an actual resident of this county and state for more that five years last past and that the cause of divorce herein after set out occurred and existed in this state and within five years next before the commencement of this action that she and the defendant lived together as man and wife from the date of their said marriage until on or about the 25th day of December 1912, at which time the defendant without any fault upon her part abandoned her and left her in Rowan County, Kentucky, and has failed and refused to live with her ever since said date and that he has failed and refused to furnish anything for her maintenance or support and they are now living separate and apart from each other. Plaintiff says that during the time they did live together as man and wife that she always treated the defendant in a kind and affectionate manner that the abandonment of the plaintiff by the defendant was wholly without fault from her. Wherefore she prays for a judgment of a divorce from the defendant and that the bonds of matrimony existing between her and the defendant be severed canceled and held for naught and that she be restored to all the rights and privileges of an unmarried woman and for all general and appropriate relief to which in Equity she may appear entitled. Hogge to be read as evidence in the trial of the above entitled action said depositions taken in the town of Morehead Rowan Co. Ky Pursuant to notice. The witness being first sworn states: The deposition of Henderson Whisman County of Rowan in Penelyson precinct. I am 71 years old I know the plaintiff Martha Trent have known her for 2 years last past. I do not know the defendant Ranze Trent at all. The plaintiff has been staying at my home for two years the 30th day of March last past. She came there March 30th 1913 and has been there ever since. Plaintiff and defendant have not been together as husband and wife since she came to my house 2 years and more ago. I know that he has not furnished her anything for her support or the support of her children during the time she has been at my house. The plaintiff and defendant was separated when she came in at my home. I do not know when they separated but he has been gone for more then 2 years last past. She is an actual resident of this county and has been to my families ye for more than 2 years last past. She is still living at my home and they have been living separated and apart from each other. She is a good woman and good to work a good housekeeper and a good cook. I never did see him the defendant that I know of. Signed: Henderson Whisman Also the deposition of France Johnson taken at same time and same place. Stated and duly sworn as follows: I am 53 years old and live in Rowan County Ky near or about Hogtown Ky. The plaintiff Mrs. Trent is my daughter she and the defendant Ranz Trent was married at my house Rowan County Ky in the year 1904 March 19th 1904 I was present and saw them married Harvey Trent performed the ceremony they bind together as man and wife. For some time after they married the defendant Ranze Trent left the plaintiff about 3-4 years ago and I know it hasn't been less then 3 years ago I think it has been 4 years ago. I don't know of any reason why he left the plaintiff only he was to trifling and no account to work and make a living for his wife and children and he just picked up and left her and laid up there in the neighborhood practically all the time since they separated and I know that they haven't ever lived together since they separated. I know that he absolutely failed and refused to support the plaintiff and her children. All the time I had to feed them about all the time for 8 years myself. She has been making her home at Mr. Whisman's in this County for the last 2 years and that this defendant has been laying around up about Hogtown in that neighborhood but I understand he is nigh soon gone from up there. He has left the county I don't know where he is now. I know that they have been living separated and apart from each other for at least 3-4 years and he has not furnished anything for her during that time. I was at their home frequently when they first bind together as man and wife and I know that she always prepares food and carries to him and took an interest in their home and tried to get along. Martha was a good worker kept a good home and she was a good and dutiful wife for him and he had no reason to ban her. As I have stated before she is an actual resident of this county Rowan and has been ever since her marriage to the defendant herein and before that time. Signed: France Johnson Attest: Also the deposition of Charlie Johnson taken at the same time and same place. Being duly sworn states as follows: I am 28 years old reared in Rowan Co. Ky The plaintiff is my sister I know that the plaintiff and defendant lived together as man and wife for almost 7-8 years I was at their home frequently while they were living together The plaintiff was good and kind to the defendant in my presence and by her looks seemed happy and contented. They would have been living together yet but for the fact he was to honoree (lazy) to provide for or support the plaintiff and her children. I often bought pokes of meal and flour and sent to them to help them live. He won't work at anything. He is actually so trifling that when they had sickness in their family I had to send for and pay the doctor to check on them and he has not thought of paying me back. Signed: Charlie Johnson State of Kentucky County of Rowan I James -------examiner for Rowan County Kentucky do hereby certify that the foregoing depositions of each of the foregoing names and witnesses Henderson Whisman, France Johnson, Charlie Johnson, each sworn before they gave testimony and all written by me in their presence and in the presence of E.
