ELECTS OFFICERS DEC> 27 1938 Russell Lodge No. 284 F & A M met in their hall on Dec 27th for the purpose of electing officers for the ensueing year. Perkins of the methodist Church officiating, The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W.S. Leach of this city and is an accomplished young lady. For the past two or three years she has held an important position with the NYA. The groom is a progressive young farmer. The news extends congratulations and best wishes to this worthy young couple Stock yards company elects officers and directors At the regular annual meeting of the stockholders of the russell county stockyards company held at russell Springs Minday january 2, the following officers and directors were elected for the ensuing year. Wilson, A Harris POPULAR TOUNG COUPLE WED DECEMBER 24 1938 Miss Mildred Sullivan, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. T.R. Sullivan and Mr. Berry Rowe McKinley, son of Mr. and mrs. Owen McKinley were quietly united in marriage on Saturday, December 24 at 6:30 P.M. Rev Howard O'Banion, pastor of the methodist Church officiating. They were accompanied by Mr. and mrs. Bob Coe. Following the ceremony the newly weds left on a honeymoon trip to louisville. The News joins their many friends in extending best wishes to this splendid young couple. Mr. Ed Bell, editor of the Fentress County news, Jamestown , Tenn, was in town Friday and was a visistor to this office. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Wilson, Of Indianapolis, spent the holidays with the latters parents, Mr. and mrs. John Miller, of near town. Clothing to releifers According to reports the WPA will ship to russell County more than one thousand garments to be given away to WPA workers and under strict supervision. It is said that four supervisors and four day and night watchmen will have charge abd only famalies having five or more in the family will get any. Only those having certified families will get any, no others need apply. December 31 Fietz and Anita A December 31 Death removes an aged lady Mrs. Winnifred bolin an aged and respected woman passed away at the home of her stepson Walter Bolin Dec 24th. J.H.S. Net squad stricken with the mumps A twin bill with Bradfordsville scheduled for Tuesday night in the local gym was postponed to a later date, and a pair of games with Somerset there Friday night has been canceled due to mumps on the local high school team. First to take the mumps were the back boys Vernon and Jewett. Then Avery Wheat fell victum, and then the caption of the team Dillard Cundiff, took a case. Mr. M.L. Shepherd passes away Mr. M.L. Shepard an old and highley respected citizen died at the home of his son near Fonthill one day last week. He had been in bad health for a long time and his passing was not unexpected. DUTTON-SMITH WEDDING SATURDAY, DEC 24 The wedding of Miss Dora M. Dutton, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H.E. Dutton of Jamestown , Kentucky and Mr. Frank Smith took place at 10:00P.M. Saturday , December 24, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. H.E. Pruitt, Jamestown. B.F. Phelps died Tuesday Dec 27 On Tuesday Dec/ 27th death visited the home of Mr. B.F. Phelps and claimed him for its victim. Mr. Phelps had been in bad health for several years and his death was not unexpected. Clay Johnson Passed away on Dec 24th Clay Johnson 34 years old , died at his home in the Eller community on December 24th following a lingering illness of a complication of diseases. Mr. J.B. Morrison Called by death J. B. Morrison, son of Col. J.
