WINFREY an aged and respected citizen of the Blair"s Schoolhouse community passed away at his home last week, a victim of the infirmities of old age. He was about 88 years of age and had lived in the same community for many years. He leaves several children and grandchildren, his wife having preceded him to the great beyound some time ago. We can say of Uncle SAM WINFREY something that can not be said of everyone, he was a christian gentleman, a man that feared God and one who loved his fellow man. If he ever did his neighbor an injury we have never heard of it. His quiet manner and kind disposition made him many friends and his passing is a distinct loss to his community, but the life he lived will be a blessing to his circle of friends as long as any remembrance of him lasts. The news joins his many friends in extending sympathy to the bereaved relatives. THREE MEN CONVEYED TO STATE REFORMATORY Sheriff A.W. LEACH and FRANK COE conveyed OLIVER SULLIVAN and ARNOLD BRUMLEY to La Grange to the State reformatory Saturday. A COINCIDENCE This week a pary appeared in one of the county offices and asked about work on WPA. After being told she had a small chance of getting work now she stated that her husband had a letter from the President saying he could go to work immediately. After further talk she produced a letter stating her husband would have to go before a notary public and swear he was a citizen of this country. This was amusing as this same man had been certified before and had served one term in the CCC. LAW OFFICE MOVED Attorney MARVIN J. Many do not understand all the red tape that has to be gone through before a road is even started. It is said that WPA at the present time is not interested in building anything but main roads. They plan to build a system of main roads, then if WPA is continued, side roads and by ways will be built into the system but it is generally understood that this year they will build only main roads. that will benefit the most people and not because some certain person wants a road built. They think that the main roads should be built first . That is the best method as a road has to start somewhere and go somewhere. (?) We are told by the County Judge that roads this year, with the exception of those already approved for Rural Highway and WPA will have to have a 60 foot right of way, so that when the road is built it can be turned over to the state for maintenance as the county is not able to.
