Submitted by Deborah Parks (bdparks@ixlmemphis.com) ____________________________________________________________________________ Will of Allen Jones Sr. The 25 day of December 1830, I ALLEN JONES of the County of Russell and State of Kentucky being sound in mind thanks be to Almighty God calling to remembrance the uncertain state of this transitory life and that all flesh must yield to death when it shall please God to call do make constitute ordain and declare this my last will and testament in manner and in form this to be taken only for my last will and testament and more other and first I give and commit my sole to almighty God and savior and my body buried to be where my executors please. Hereafter named to appoint and now for the selling my temporal estate and such goods chattels as it hath pleased God, far above my deserts to bestow upon me I do order give and dispose the same in manner and form that is to say, first I will that all those debts and due I owe which at this time I don’t now that I owe anything at all, I think, I give all my ready money to my well beloved wife to help in her widowed estate and further. It is my wish for my children to be made even. As with the first which I believe they all have been to POLLY JACKMAN and they for my beloved wife SARAH to keep the rest all together in her own hands, as long as she lives and at her death for all my state to be sold or divided by disinterested persons so that there may be no defraud in the division of my estate. That is for my wife to live on the plantation and keep the slaves in her own hands as long as she lives and as for my executors I appoint DAVID JONES and ABNER JONES and ALLEN JONES and JOHN JONES and BAXTER JONES and ALEXANDER JACKMAN and WM JONES these I do appoint for executors to do justice in the division and witness.
