The side lot next to his house but in front of the cemetery was formerly occupied by a church, but he cannot remember the name of the church. I assume there is a record of this former church which would provide a proper name for the cemetery. Until someone volunteers this information, I will continue the small report of Mr. Young. He said the church was disbanded after some sort of gambling problems and then demolished by a Mr. Hollingsworth who bought the property either before 1920 or in the early 1920's. Mr. Young bought this property in the 1920's and built his house next to the cemetery in the 1930's. The cemetery is fairly large and stretches from behind his house and along a field to the tree line. I would estimate there are about 30-35 readable stones with many more unreadable or buried under the sod. There are large gaps in the layout with mounds under the grass indicating buried stones. Two sections are fenced, one holding 4 individuals of the Wallace Family and the other holding about 25 members of the Griffith/David families. Total number of inhabitants would be about 70+. Several of the inhabitants were born in the 18th century - early pioneers? If this list appears in non-alphabetical format, this is the order in which the stones lie, beginning from behind Mr. Young's house and walking toward the tree line. I have some pics of a few of the stones. I will try to give them to the Scott County site or if possible, submit them to the archives.
