T. Jenkins. Miss Mabel Edney, of Hendersonville, N. C., arrived Sunday for a visit to Mr. and Mrs. H. M. Evans. Mrs. Merle B. Whitney, of Buffalo, N. Y., is visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. T. J. Burgess, of Sadieville. Mrs. Henry D. Clayton left Friday for Washington City, accompanied by her mother, Mrs. Alice K. Davis. Mrs. T. H. Daugherty went to Louisville Sunday for a visit of several days to her niece, Mrs. C. C. Mercke. Mr. Rhodie Herndon, who has been very ill in consequence of a kick on the leg from a horse, is improving nicely. Mr. Thomas J. Jenkins, who was recently operated on at a Lexington hospital, will be able to return home next week. Mrs. Moshy W. Seay and children, of Hampton, Virginia, are visiting Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Smith and other relatives. Mr. and Mrs. E. J. Daubert, of Nicholasville, attended the reception by the Eastern Star Lodge on Tuesday evening of last week. Miss Lila Duvall was guest of honor Thursday at a "Five Hundred" party given by her sister, Mrs. Basil Kenney, of Frankfort. Mrs. Omar S. Hawkins and daughter, Miss Elsie Greathouse, have returned from a visit to Mrs. Thomas Buckley, of Bourbon county. Mrs. J. N. Bradley was called to Versailles Monday, on account of the illness of her aunt, Mrs. Fannie Stout. Mrs. Stout died before her arrival. Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Wallace and little daughter, Ida Finley, spent from Saturday until Tuesday with Mr. and Mrs. W. N. Dunn, of Bourbon county. Mrs. Ben Miller Osborn was operated on for appendicitis Saturday [end of clipping] -- LOCAL NEWS -- Meeting of D. A. R. The D. A. R. will meet with Miss Fannie Bell Thursday afternoon at 4 o'clock. Mrs. Mary Cecil Cantrill made an interesting address to the Richard Hawes Chapter U. D. C. in Paris Friday afternoon. Graduates Examinations Examinations will be held at the office of County Superintendent of schools J. W. True of applicants for common school diplomas on Friday and Saturday next. Suit for $10,000 Damages Ernest Slater, formerly Superintendent of the wax plant of the Indian Refining Co., file suit last week in the Scott Circuit Court against the Company for $10,000.
