In The name of God Amen  I ELIZABETH CARTENHOUR of the County of Scott and 
State of Kentucky do make this my last will and testament    To wit   first I 
desire that after my decease all my Just debts be paid 
                                                                   Secondly I 
give to my nephew HENRY W MILLER  Son of D F MILLER five hundred dollars to be 
held in trust by his Father [illegible] interest till he comes of age
                                                             Thirdly I give to 
my Sister SARAH A GRIFFITH my negro man REASON never to be removed from the 
County or State against his will
                                                             4th I give to my 
sister SARAH A GRIFFITH a tract of land I own in the state of Mo  Monroe 
County containing four [?] hundred acres.  I also give to my sister SARAH A 
[sic] all the money I have   also all of my household effects. In conclusion I 
appoint my sister SARAH A GRIFFITH my Executrix to carry out the provisions 
[?] of the will     In Testimony whereof I have set my hand this 16th day of

The last will and testament of ELIZABETH CARTENHOUR dec’d was this day 
produced in Open Court and proved by the oath of HIRAM WOOD one of the 
subscribing witnesses thereto who also testified to the attestation of WM S 
NEAL the other subscribing witness and ordered to be recorded

Additional Comments:
Note: By 1858/1860 both Elizabeth MILLER CARTENHOUR and Sarah A. MILLER 
GRIFFITH had lost their sons who were, to the best of my knowledge, the only 
children of each woman.

Note: HENRY W MILLER was HENRY WINANS MILLER, born in 1845 and 13 years old 
when the will was written. His father, DF MILLER, was DAVID FRANKLIN MILLER, 
one of ELIZABETH’S younger brothers.
