Kentucky: A History of the State, Battle, Perrin, & Kniffin, 6th ed., 1887, Shelby Co.

MRS. LYDIA POSEY was born in Henry County, Ky., a daughter of John and Elizabeth (Thomasson) 
Foree. Her father, a native of Virginia, came to Kentucky with his father in 1780, and was a 
soldier in the war of 1812. Her grandfather, Peter Foree, a native of Virginia, served for a 
short time during the Revolutionary war. Her grandmother was Sallie Pryor, of Virginia. Our 
subject received her education at the common schools, and was married in 1831 to William Bullard, 
a plain, unassuming farmer. Three children were born to this union: William, Reuben and James. 
Mr. Bullard died in 1846. In 1854 our subject married Phillip Slaughter, a native of Virginia, 
and enterprising farmer, who died in 1855. Our subject's last marriage took place in 1860, with 
Thomas Posey, a native of Kentucky, and a farmer, who died in 1867. One child blessed their union, 
Sarah, who was united in marriage in 1883 with Thomas Brown, of Henry County. They have two 
children: Alpha and Beverly. Mrs. Posey owns 300 acres of improved land. She is a member of the 
Baptist Church in Shelbyville.
