Will Book B p. 178 Margaret HALL comes to give her guardianship report regarding the heirs of John LEWIS We the commissioners appointed by the county court of Shelby County do certify that we have settled with the guardians of the heirs of John LEWIS deceased, said Guardians by name being Margaret HALL, late Margaret LEWIS and Wm. BRIDGEWATER from the time of the last settlement untill this day being about eleven months I has granted the sum of four pounds 5 shillings & seven pence 3/4 to each of the said heirs it being the amount of the proceeds and income of the estate of each heir for the term afs'd appears from the vouchers laid before us by said guardians & further we are of opinion that three of the said heirs (towit) Bluford LEWIS, Patsy LEWIS and Henry LEWIS are of such an age that they are able & capable of maintaining themselves by their own industry and that the other heirs of said estate being younger & require schooling together with boarding & clothing and we are of the opinion that the guardians or persons having the custody of said heirs are entitled to the sums contained in each of their shares for the purposes aforesaid: That fourteen dollars was previously taken out of the proceeds of the aforesaid estate prior to dividing the same amongst the heirs and allowed to the guardians for their services.
