"These Indentures made this twenty eighth of November in the year of our
Lord one thousand seven hundred and ninety seven between Joseah Herbert
of Shelby County and the State of Kentucky of the one first and Paul
Brooks of the County and State aforesaid witnessith that the said Jonah
Herbert and Margaret his wife for and in consideration of the sum of two
pounds do in hand paid before the delivery of those resents by the said
Paul brooks the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hat the said
Jonah Herbert hath granted bargained & sold ____ a ____ and conferred.
And by those present doth grant bargain and sell __and confirm unto the
said Paul Brooks his heirs and assigns a certain meserage or linaments
of land which in the County of Shelby and bounded as
follows_______.[description of land]..............In witness whereof the
said Jonah Herbert and Margaret his wife hath set their hands and
affirmed their seals that day and year above first written.
