Miller of Shelby County and State of Kentucky for the Consideration thereafter mentioned do hereby sell and convey to James D: Ross of the County and State of aforesaid The following personal property now in my possession (to wit) three beds & furniture one folding leaf table one cupboard and furniture one clock & case, one sugar chest, six windsor chairs, six heads of cattle, (to wit) three milck cows and three heffers, and one bay mare, eighteen head of sheep, twents five head of hoggs, three plows, three ____, one cross cut saw, and one hand saw, one team, two kettles, two ovens, one pot, one rifle, and one shot gun, one waggan, three park gears, To have and to hold sd property to him the sd Ross and his heirs for ever against the Claim or claims of all and every person or persons whatsoever....Upon the condition however, that whereas the sd Ross holds a note on me for three hundred and fifty dollars assigned to him by Michael ______ the note dated the fifth day of August 1820 and due two months after date Now whenever I discharge sd note with interest then this instrument is to be void else to remain in full force and virtue it being understood that this instrument shall operate as a mortgage to secure the payment of sd debt to sd Ross given under my hand and seal this eighteenth of March 1831.
