Deed Bk A, p 315-317 This Indenture made this 18th day of February in the year of our Lord Christ One thousand Seven hundred and ninety four Between, Jacob NEWLAND and Lucy his wife of Shelby County in Commonwealth of Kentucky of the one part and Walter CAIN of the Ohio County ___ ___ Commonwealth of Virginia of the other part Witnesseth that the Said Jacob and Lucy his wife for and in consideration of the Sum of One hundred pounds Current Money of the State of Kentucky to them in hand paid by the Said Walter CAIN the receipt whereof they do hereby acknowledge and themselves therewith fully Satisfyd Contented and paid. Have granted bargained and Sold Aliened and confirmed and by these presents do grant bargain and Sell alien and Confirm unto the Said Walter CAIN his heirs and assigns forever the quantity of four hundred acres of Land part of a preemption of one thousand acres granted by the Said Commonwealth to the Said Jacob NEWLAND Situate in the County of Washington in the Said Commonwealth of Ke ntucky on both Sides of pleasant run the Said four hundred of Land to be bounded as follows Towit, Beginning at a Sugar tree Honey and Hickory standing in the Western Boundary line of the Thousand acre tract & running from thence North ninety two poles and Seven eighths of a pole to an Ash Mulberry and Hickory thence East one hundred and Eighty poles to three Sugar trees thence North Sixty three degrees East eighty eight poles to a white Walnut Ash and Hickory thence East two hundred and Eighty poles to two Hickory and white Oak thence South one hundred and thirty four poles and eighths of a pole to two Hickorys and black Oak Standing in the Eastern Boundary line of the Said One thousand acre tract thence North five hundred and forty two poles crossing pleasant run to the Beginning with its appurtenances To have and to hold the Said four hundred Acres of Land and all and Singular the premisses above mentioned with the appurtenances unto the Said Walter CAIN his heirs and assigns f orever and the Said Jacob NEWLAND and Lucy his wife for themselves and their Heirs Executors and admors the Said four hundred acres of land and premisses and against them and their Heirs and against any and all manner of persons unto the Said Walter CAIN his heirs and assigns Shall and will warrant and forever defend by these presents In Witness whereof the Said Jacob NEWLAND and Lucy his Wife have hereunto Set their hands and affixed their Seals the day and year first above written Jacob NEWLAND [seal] Signed Sealed & Delivered Lucy NEWLAND [seal] In presence of Wm SHANNON David PRICE Ruhan PRICE State of Kentucky Sct Shelby County July 15 179_ This is to Certify that the within named Jacob NEWLAND and Lucy his wife personally appeared before us Joseph WINLOCK and Abraham OWEN two of the Commonwealths Justices for Said County and acknowledged this Indenture to be their act and Deed and the Said Lucy wife to the Said Jacob having been first prively Examined apart from her husband relinquished her right of Dower touching the premisses Given under our hands the day and date above Joseph WINLOCK Abraham OWEN Transcribed by Patricia O'Connor p-oconnor@att.net This file has been created by a form at http://www.genrecords.org/kyfiles/
