Sampson This Indenture made and entered into this 21st day of January One thousand Eight Hundred and Sixty by and between L. Thurman Ross of the County of Shelby and State of Ky of the one Part and John J. Sampson of the County of Spencer and State aforesaid of the other part. Witnesseth that for and in Consideration of the Sum of Eight one dollars and 25 cents Cash in hand paid the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged. The Said L Thurman Ross hath this day granted bargained and Sold and doth by these presents grant bargain sell and Convey unto John J. Sampson his heirs and assigns forever a certain tract or parcel of land situate lying and being in the County of Shelby and State aforesaid on the waters of Big beech Creek and bounded as follows. SS Beginning at a Stone thence N69 1/2 W26 poles to a stake Then S 32 poles W26 1/2 poles to a Stake Thence S68 E22 poles to a Stake thence N 38 E. 28 poles to the beginning Containing Four acres and 10 poles be the Same more or less to him the Said John J. Sampson To Have and to Hold the aforesaid tract or parcel of land with all and singular the appurtenances thereunto belonging or in anywise pertaining thereto and the Said L. Thurman Ross together with Sarah Ross his wife who relinquishes her right in and to Said Land bind themselves to warrant and defend Said tract of land to him the Said John J. Sampson against the Claim or Claims of themselves or theirs or any person Claiming in through or by them or in any other way whatsoever. In Testimony Whereof they have hereunto Set their hands and affixed their Seals this day and date first above written Lewis T. Ross Sarah Ross Kentucky Shelby County &Ct I John T Ballard Clerk of the County Court for the County aforesaid Certify that the within deed from L. Thurman Ross and Sarah Ross his wife to John J. Sampson was on the 25th day of Jany. 1860 produced to me in my office and acknowledged by Said L Thurman Ross and Sarah his wife to be their act and deed for the uses and purposes therein mentioned. And on the 4th day of February 1861[?] the __ tax being paid Said deed together with his Certificate were duly recorded in my office. Given under my hand the date last aforesaid. John T.
