This indenture made this 4th day of June One thousand Eight Hundred and
fifty seven between S. V. Ross and Mary Ross his wife of the County of
Shelby and State of Kentucky of the first and F. M. Shouse of the County
of Shelby and State aforesaid of the second part Witnesseth that for and
in consideration of Two hundred and Seventy Three 33/100 Dollars to be
paid 25 December 1857 and the Sum of Two Hundred and Seventy Three
33/100 Dollars to be paid the 25th day of December 1858 and the sum of
Two hundred and Seventy Three 33/100 Dollars to be paid on the 25th day
of December 1859  the party of the first part do Bargain and Convey
confirm Release and Grant To the party of the second part and his heirs
and assigns all that tract or parcel of Land situate Lying and being in
the County and State aforesaid on the Waters of Beech Creek and thus
Bounded Beginning at a Stone in the Center of a Branch Corner to Ross’s
line thence N71 W114 poles to a Stake thence N39 W14 poles to a Stone
Corner to Shouse thence N39 #36 poles to a White Walnut and ash Stump
thence N 33 1/2 E85 poles to a Stone Corner to J. D. Williams thence S
69 1/269 1/2 #60 poles to a Stone Corner to H. S. Hammond thence S 27
1/4 W 6 poles to an Oak and Walnut bush Corner to Hammond thence N 71
1/2 E 11 1/2 poles to a Stone Corner to L. T. Ross thence S 33 W 27
poles To a Stake Corner in Corbins line thence N69 W 10 poles to a Stone
Corner to Corbin Thence S31 3/4 W60 poles to a Stone Corner to Ross in
Corbins line Thence N32 W 13 3/4 poles Thence N71 W45 poles to a White
Walnut and Ash Stump Corner in Shouses line Thence S5 W42 poles to
Beginning Containing Forty One Acres.  Together with all the rights
Privaliges and appurtenances thereto belonging and the party of the
first part Covenant that they Will Warrant and forever defend the
property hereby conveyed To have and To Hold the property hereby
Conveyed to the party of The second part and his heirs and assigns
forever against the Claims of all persons Whomsoever In Testimony
Whereof the party of the first part hereto set their hands and seals the
day and years first above mentioned.

I John T Ballard Clerk of the County Court for the County afsd Certify
that this deed from S. V. Ross and Mary His wife To F. M. Shouse was on
the 4th day of July 1857 produced to my predecessor or his deputy in
office and acknowledged by sd S V Shouse to be his act and deed as
appears from an endorsement made thereon in his words and figures 1859
July 4th A_ and on the 15th day of December 1859 said deed was
acknowledged by Named Shouse to be his act and deed. Whereupon said deed
and this Certificate both been duly recorded in my office.
