CHURCH This Indenture made the 3rd Day of ________1861 Between WARNER T. FIGG and LUCINDA FIGG his wife of the one part, and BENNONI NEWLAND, STOKELY J. LAWSON, ADAM P. CARRITHERS, WARNER T. FIGG, T.M.T. BOSWELL Trustees in Trust for the uses and purposes hereinafter mentioned all of the county of Shelby and Commonwealth of Kentucky of the other part Witnesseth That the said WARNER T. FIGG and LUCINDA his wife for the consideration of the sum of one dollar to them in hand paid the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, have given, granted, bargained, sold, released, confirmed and conveyed, and by these presents doth give grant bargain sell, release, confirm and convey unto the Trustees aforesaid in Trust and their successors in office forever for the Methodist Episcopal Church South, all the estate right title interest property, claim and demand whatsoever either in law or equity which the said WARNER T. FIGG and LUCINDA FIGG his wife hath in to or upon all and singular a certain lot or piece of land situate lying and being in the county of Shelby and Commonwealth of Kentucky and bounded as follows, Towit, Beginning at a stone in the county road and in ROBERT A. PATERSON's and WARNER T. FIGG's line, thence with their line N. 58 1/2 degree W. 15 85/100 poles to a stone thence S. 35 degrees W. 12 65/100 poles to a stone thence S. 58 1/2 degrees E. 15 85/100 poles to a stone in the road, thence with the road N. 35 degrees E. 12 65/100 poles to the beginning Containing one acre and one quarter of land to have and to Hold all and singular the above mentioned and described tract or parcel of land, situate, lying and being in the County and state aforesaid together with the appurtenances thereto belonging or in anywise appertaining unto the aforesaid Trustees of the Methodist Episcopal Church South and their successors in office forever in Trust as a lot or parcel of ground on which to erect a building or Church as a place of worship as set forth in her book of discipline. And the said WARNER T. FIGG and LUCINDA his wife doth by these presents warrant and forever defend all and singular the aforementioned and described lot or parcel of land against the claim or claims of all and every person or persons whatsoever. In testimony whereof the said WARNER T. FIGG and LUCINDA his wife have hereunto set their hands and seals the day and year first above writ. /s/ WARNER T. FIGG and LUCINDA FIGG his wife to BENONI S. NEWLAND and other Trustees of the Methodist Episcopal Church South was produced to me in my office on the 29th day of June 1861 and acknowledged before me by the said LUCINDA FIGG to be her act and deed and on the 8th day of July 1861 the same was acknowledge before me by the said WARNER T. FIGG to be his act and deed, and the tax being paid on this 21st Day of October 1861 said deed and this Certificate have been duly recorded in my office.
