The following obituary was found in the Joseph C. and Harriett L. Julian
Clarke Bible records:

Died, in this county, on Friday last, at 2 o'clock A.M., of acute inflammation
_______, in the 40th year of her age, Mrs. Harrie(t) Clarke., wife of Mr.
Joseph Clarke.

The manner in which Mrs. Clarke has filled all the relations of daughter,
sister, wife, mother, friend, neighbor, and christian, has been such that in
any sketch, her worth would be but a well told tale. As a daughter, she was
most dutiful and affectionate; as a sister, kind and tender; as a wife, most
affectionate, gentle and confiding; as a mother, discreet, intelligent and
affectionate; as a friend, constant and sincere; as a neighbor, kind and
obliging; as a christian, most exemplary and devout. But few, if any better
women ever lived, or purer christians ever died. Such a woman, what a loss!
But she is not dead; but sleepeth; weep not for her, but weep for the living.
She has ceased from her pain and sorrow, and has entered on her reward. ___
Let me die her death and let my end be like hers.
