STATE OF KENTUCKY
Shelby County,

James W. Hedges having entered into bond with security , in the penalty
of $100, this license is granted to him to intermarry with Mary E. Young
by consent of his mother Nancy Hedges in ............... and also by
consent of her mother Pamelia Oliver in writing and any Minister,
legally authorized, may celebrate the rites of matrimony between the
said parties.  Given under my hand, as Clerk, the 12 day of September,
1855.

On the 12th day of September, 1855, I did celebrate the rites of
matrimony between the above named Jas W. Hedges and Mary E. Young in the
presence of John S. Porter & Robt W. Elliott Witnesses.
Given under my hand the 12th day of September 1855

We the undersigned , are jointly and severally held and firmly bound
unto the Commonwealth of Kentucky, in the sum of $100 to be made and
levied of our respective goods, chattels, lands and tenements, and for
the use of the Commonwealth -- upon the condition that there is no
lawful cause to obstruct the marriage of James W. Hedges and Mary E.
Young.
Given under our hands and seals, this 12th day of September, 1855

The 6th census of the US in 1840 Shelby County shows one male between 30
- 40, one female between 30 - 40, and one female between 5 - 10 in the
Jesse and Pamelia Young household.

            Submitter includes these questions:
(Who?  Does anyone know about this family?  Who were Jesse Young's
parents?, Pamelia's parents?, who was the child in the census?  Were new
infants counted in the census? -- Mary Ellen Young was born Aug 1839,
