Brady, 1819, Shelby County, KY Shelby Co. KY Deed Book 4 p. 315 In the name of God Amen I JONATHAN P. BRADY of the County of Shelby and State of Kentucky being weak of body but of a sound & disposing mind and memory and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die do make and ordain this my last will and testament. Item: I commit and commend my sole into the hands of God my creator and my body to the dust from whence it came and as Touching such worldly estate as it has pleased god to bless me with I give and dispose of in the following manner (towit) Item. It is my will and desire that all my Just debts and funeral expenses and funeral expences be paid Item. I give and bequeath to my loving wife JEMIMA BRADY the plantation I now live on to possess the same so long as she remains my widow with all its appurtenances thereunto belonging also the feather beds and beding also one half my stock of cattle and the other half of my stock of cattle to be sold and the money arising from the Sale of s'd cattle to be given to my s'd wife for her use and benefit and also I give unto my wife as aforesaid all and Singular my household kitchen furniture except four feather beds and furniture which will be disposed of as herein after mentioned and also I give to my wife as aforesaid all my stock of horses and farming utensils all of which property is to be given to my wife for her use during her widowhood, but should my wife marry it is my will and desire that all the property which I have hereby given to her (both real and personal) be Sold the personal property to be sold on a credit of twelve months and the lands on a credit of 6, 12, 18 and 24 month equal payments and the money arising from the sale of said property to be divided in the following manner (towit) one eighth part to be given to my wife one eighth part to be given to my daughter SARY BRADY one eighth part to be given to my daughter MARY BRADY one eighth part to be given to my daughter ALICE BRADY one eighth part to be given to my daughter IANTHE BRADY one eighth part to be given to my daughter ELIZABETH BRAD one eighth part to be given to my daughter REBECKAH BRADY one eighth part to be given to my daughter JANE BRADY but should my wife Remain a widow and not marry it is my will and desire that at her death my whole estate both real and personal be sold as above directed and the money arising there from be equally divided between my Seven Daughters above mentioned. Item I give and bequeath to my Daughter SARY BRADY one feather bed and beding and to my Daughter MARY BRADY one Feather bed and beding and to my Daughter ALICE BRADY one Feather bed and beding and to my Daughter IANTHE BRADY one Feather bed and beding and to my Daughter ELIZABETH BRADY fifty dollars in cash which is to be appropriated to her use as she may need it for clothing schooling etc. and I give to my Daughter REBECKAH BRADY one hundred dollars to be appropriated to her use as she may need it for clothing schooling etc. and I give unto my Daughter JANE BRADY one hundred dollars to be appropriated to her use as she may need it for clothing schooling etc. Shelby County - July Court 1819 A writing purporting to be the nuncupative will of JONATHAN BRADY dec'd was produced in Court and JOHN WELLS, THOMAS HUNTER and PRISCILLA HUNTER by whom the said Nuncupative Will was Reduced to writing during the last illness and in the life time of said BRADY and the said WELLS and HUNTERS being duly Sworn State the disposition of the estate of the Said JONATHAN is set forth in said Will is substantially correct and according to the wishes expressed by the deceased in his life time and that the said Will was Read and approved by Said BRADY and that they believe that S'd JONATHAN at the time of approving the same was of Sound and disposing mind and memory which will is ordered to be Recorded and JEMIMAH BRADY, Wife of said JONATHAN being in Court Relinquished her Right to Administer the estate of said JONATHAN whereupon ROBERT TYLER came into Court and having taken the oath Required by law and entered into bond with SAMUEL HUNTER, JOHN HUNTER and THOMAS HUNTER his Securities in the penalty of $5000 conditioned as the law directs administration with the will annexed is granted him the estate of the said JONATHAN P.
