F. WATSON 4401, Spencer Co. Surname: Watson, Roads, Holsclaw Kentucky: A History of the State. Perrin, Battle & Kniffin, 6th ed., 1887, Spencer Co. J. F. WATSON was born in Spencer County, Ky., November 2, 1822, the sixth of a family of nine children born to Thomas and Sarah (Roads) Watson. Thomas Watson was born in Virginia, immigrated to Kentucky at quite an early day, and settled in Spencer County; was always engaged in agricultural pursuits, and was a son of Joseph Watson, who was also a native of Virginia. Mrs. Sarah Watson was born in Virginia, and is a daughter of Boswell Roads. Our subject was reared on a farm, and received a common-school education. He operated a distillery for seven years, but in 1879 was elected jailer of Spencer County, which office he still holds, his term not expiring until 1890. He married March 9, 1847, Martha A. Holsclaw, of Spencer County, daughter of B. Holsclaw. Of the three children born to this union, one is living, Ophelia H. Mr. Watson is the owner of fifty acres of land. ===============================================================================================
