Deed Book F p. 206 John BEMISS and Elizabeth BEMISS his wife, John CARR and Elizabeth CARR his wife, Samuel MERRIFIELD and Fanny MERRIFIELD his wife of the County of Nelson and State of Kentucky of the one part to Hugh Lynn GILKERSON, James Sidney GILKERSON and Elizabeth Jane GILKERSON, children and Heirs and legal representatives of James GILKERSON Dec'd of the county of Boyle and State aforesaid of the other part... for and in consideration of the sum of Three thousand dollars (?) paper of the Bank of the Commonwealth of Kentucky received 8th July 1822.... pertaining to the article of agreement of the above... between the said Benjamin CARR and MERRIFIELD .... and James GILKERSON the ancestor of the above named Hugh Lynn GILKERSON, James Sidney GILKERSON and Elizabeth Jane GILKERSON of the other part the receipt whereof they do hereby acknowledge have given granted bargained and conveyed a certain tract or parcel of Land situate lying and being in the County of Spencer and State of Kentucky containing by survey one thousand acres on Salt River and Ashes Creek and bounded as follows... Beginning at a Dogwood mulberry and Beach on the south Bank of Salt River about eighty poles above Ashes Creek ... being the same Tract of Land surveyed and patented in the name of John CURD and sold to the said John BEMISS, John CARR and Samuel MERRIFIELD by Woodford CURD and John PRYOR Commissioners appointed by an Act of the Legislature of the State of Kentucky to make Sale of said Tract of Land.
