KY 14 May 1842 Spencer County Deed Book F p. 116 George KURTZ of the County of Spencer, State of Kentucky to William POLK, James J. WOOD and William LACKEY of the County and State aforesaid, Conrad KURTZ and Henry F. KURTZ of Harden County and State aforesaid of the other part. Witnesseth that the aforesaid George KURTZ for and in consideration of the sum of One Dollar in hand paid hath granted bargained and sold and by these presents doth grant bargain and sell with the aforesaid William POLK, James J. WOOD, William LACKEY, Coonrod KURTZ and Henry F. KURTZ one Lot in the Town of Taylorsville known and designated upon the plat of s'd Town by its number Seventeen together with all and singular the buildings and appurtenances appertaining to the said Lot also one Lot in the Town aforesaid known by the number 125 it being the same Lot upon which the steem saw mill stands together with all the buildings upon said Lot the engine in the said Saw Mill and together with all the fixtures of every kind in and about said Mill together with all the stocks all the lumber and planks in and about s'd mill all the wood that may be on hand upon the lot and such. Also Lot number 123 together with all the buildings also a negro man named Solomon also... (as with all Spencer Co. deeds there is damage at the base of every page and these few sentences are unreadable on the film)... one turning Lathe & wheel together with all...... materials in and about the shop of the.....poplar and cherry plank... and to twelve lots beside Taylor BASYE unto the said George KURTZ also all the right, title and interest of the said George KURTZ in and to the Estate of George KURTZ Senior, Dec'd also all the Household and kitchen furniture belonging to the said KURTZ consisting of Beds, Bureaus, presses (?) tables, cupboard ware, chairs. Also about thirty of hogs. To have and to hold the above described lots and houses and negro man and all the above property. Whereas the aforesaid William POLK stands bound as security of s'd George KURTS to Harland (?) (Harlson?) MATTHEWS in a note of hand executed 4 Jun 1839 due the first of January 1842 with a credit therein of Seventy Dollars paid on the ---- (left blank) day of amount of said note is three hundred dollars 47 cents (?) and whereas the said POLK stands as the security for s'd KURTZ to Rachel McGEE in note of hand amount six hundred Dollars executed 9th Feb 1841 due 1 Jan 1842 s'd note is credited with three hundred and eleven dollars 85 cents paid 20 Jul 1841 and whereas the said POLK stands as security for said George to Thomas WILSON in a note of hand for about seventy Dollars date not recollected and whereas the said KURTZ is indebted to the said POLK in the sum of one hundred and fifty three dollars and 27 cents for which the said POLK holds his note and said note is due 26 Jan 1842 said note is credited with sixty seven dollars paid 5 Apr 1842 Whereas the said POLK also holds the said KURTZs note for twenty five Dollars 63 cents due 13 May 1842 and whereas the S'd WOOD stands bound as the security for the said KURTZ to Thomas GOODWIN in a note for one hundred and fourteen Dollars and 30 cents due 5 Mar 1841 said was assigned by the said GOODWIN to Martin H. SUMMERS and whereas the said WOODS stands as security for S'd KURTZ to James SIMPSON a note for one hundred dollars s'd note will be due about next Christmas...more damaged spots.. can make out the mention of William LACKEY and a note to William R. or K. COTTON and William WAKEFIELD... and John LUTZ who was owed a note for seventy five dollars and whereas the aforesaid Henry F. KURTZ stands bound as administrator of George KURTZ Sr. Dec'd as the security for the said George to William NEWBOLT in a note for seven hundred dollars and upon which the said Henry as admr. aforesaid in the Hardin County Circuit Court has been sued and whereas the s'd Henry as admr. aforesaid stands as security of the said George to Benjamin FLANDER for two hundred and fifty dollars . Now if the said George KURTZ shall pay or cause to be paid the aforesaid debts and indemnify and save himself the aforesaid POLK, WOOD, LACKEY, Coonrod KURTZ and Henry F.
