Hedges Dies in Crash. Fatal accident occurs near Scottsburg, Ind. Friday afternoon. Spencer county people received another shock Friday when it was known here that Mrs. Ella Hedges, wife of Mr. T.G. Hedges, had been instantly killed in an automobile accident near Scottsburg, Indiana. Mr. Hedges, his brother Mr. Joshua Hedges, and Mrs. Hedges were returning from Indianapolis when the crash came. A truck passed them near Scottsburg which sideswiped their car and mashed a fender. Mr. Hedges' car overturned. Mrs. Hedges' face was bruised badly, one arm and one limb were broken and there was a deep gash on her head. Both Mr. Hedges and his brother were hurt, but neither was seriously injured. Mrs. Hedges died instantly. The body was brought to the funeral home of Foreman and Greenwell where it was prepared for burial and it was then taken to the family residence. Funeral services conducted by her paster Rev. W.E. Pound, assisted by Rev. Ralph White were held Monday afternoon in the Baptist church at Waterford and interment was in Valley cemetery. She was born June 7, 1866 and was married to Mr. Hedges her second husband December 25, 1895. She is survived by her husband, by two sons Houston Hedges who lived with his parents and Skeel Glisson of Austin, Texas; by her brother-in-law Mr. Joshua Hedges whose home was with his brother and Mrs. Hedges; nieces and nephews and by a large circle of sorrowing friend. Relatives and friends from a distance attending the funeral were Mr. Glisson, Mrs. Geo. Reader, Lynn Haven, Va., Miss Virginia Reader, Norfolk, Va., Miss Mable Reader, Raleigh, N.C.; Mr. and Mrs. W.H. Gilbert, Charlottesville, Va., Mrs. Robert Hedges, Louisville; Mrs. Millie Wigglesworth, Birmingham, Ala; Miss Claudia Taurman and brother Mr. Clarence Taurman of Indianapolis and L.T. Anbachow of Cincinnati.
