Luke proprietor of the Taylorsville Hotel passed away Saturday night at 1:30 o'clock. Friday morning Mrs. Luke went to his room to awaken him and found him unable to speak. He had suffered a stroke of paralysis sometime Thursday night or early Friday morning, and he was unable to use his right side. Though conscious he could not speak, and he passed away without being able to tell his wife and daughter that which he seemed to be trying to say to them. Mr. Luke came to this county a number of years ago and located at Waterford, later moving to Taylorsville to take charge of the hotel and cream station here. He was a good citizen, a devoted husband, an indulgent father, and a kind friend. He has many friends who are saddened by his going and who sympathize deeply with his family in their bereavement. He was 64 years of age. His only survivors are his widow and their daughter Miss Louise Luke. The funeral service was held Tuesday afternoon from the residence and interment was in Valley cemetery.
