Monday afternoon at three o'clock. An employee at the Jeffersonville Quartermaster Depot for 20 years, Mr. Straughan retired two years ago. He was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. J.B. Straughan, who lived at Elk Creek for many years. Surviving him are his wife, Mrs. Bess Cartwright Straughan and daughter, Glena Dale; four sisters, Mrs. May Dale McAlister, Finchville, Mrs. Vic Jackson, of Louisville; Mrs. Pamela Grubb and Mrs. L. B. Cummings of Los Angeles, Calif., and several nieces and nephews. One nephew is John Dale of this county. Mr. Straughan was a member of the Elk Creek Baptist Church for many years. He was later united with the Christian Church at Charlestown. Funeral services were held this afternoon at 2:30; burial was at the Charlestown cemetery.
