This Deed of Emancipation from JOHN BICKSLER to a negro woman his slave named KESIAH and her daughter LOUISA was this day produced in Court and having been acknowledged by the said JOHN BICKSLER to be his act and Deed was admitted to record And thereupon the said negro slaves about to be emancipated by said writing came before the court and upon their view they took the following description of them towit: the negro woman KESIAH is a bright mulattoe about twenty four years of age of a pleasant open Countenance with no particular accidental marks. The said Child LOUISA is also a bright mulattoe about twelve months old pretty straight hair with no particular or accidental marks which is ordered to be entered of record and Certified upon said Deed of Emancipation and Thereupon the said JOHN BICKSLER came into Court and together with ZACHARIAH TERREL his security executed and acknowledged a bond in the penalty of $200 conditioned to secure the said County of Spencer from the said Negroe becoming chargeable thereupon. --------------------------------------------------- Anne Livingston livings1@aol.com
