Deed Book F p. 48 Know all men by these presents that I EPHRAIM a free man of Colour of the County of Spencer & State of Kentucky as well for and in consideration of the promises herein after mentioned as for the consideration of one Dollar to me in hand paid by SAMUEL GILBERT of the County and State aforesaid the receipt whereof I do hereby acknowledge have bargained sold granted and confirmed and do bargain sell grant and confirm to the said SAMUEL GILBERT one negro childe slave name MARY aged about one year also two horses, one horse waggon, two cows and one yearling, Eighteen head of hogs, Two plows about 150 bushels of Corn, One Desk Two Beds and Bedsteads and bedding six chairs, two trunks, one shot gun, one sugar chest, one table, pots, kettles, ovens, skillits etc. etc. To have and to hold the said negro girl slave and the said personal property and every part and parcel thereof to the only proper use and behoof of the said SAMUEL GILBERT his Exors., Administrators and assigns forever... but if the said EPHRAIM shall well and truly pay or cause to be paid to the said SAMUEL GILBERT the sum of One hundred and fifty Dollars the 1 Jan 1843, one hundred and fifty Dollars on the 1 Jan 1843 and one hundred and fifty dollars the 1 Jan 1844 the above promise shall be null and void.
