Retired newspaper publisher and teacher, Miss Katie B. Beauchamp, 74, died yesterday at her home in Taylorsville, Ky. She was the sister of Judge Mark Beauchamp, Jefferson County Commissioner and former County judge. Lifelong resident of Spencer County, Miss Beauchamp was publisher of The spencer Magnate, which she established in 1914, fr 31 years. She sold the paper in 1945. She also was correspondent for The Courier-Journal and other daily newspapers. She began her career as a teacher in the Spencer County public schools and later was superintendent of the Spencer County system for several years. She wa educated in the old Spencer Academy. Miss Beauchamp taught the Katie B. Beauchamp Bible Class at Taylorsville Baptist Church for 39 years. She attended the class for 15 years without missing a Sunday. Surviving, also, brothers, Frank A. Beauchamp, Taylorsville, and Dr. I.W. Beauchamp, Amory, Miss; sister, Mrs. Jane Broderick, Taylorsville. Services, 2 p.m. tomorow, Taylorsville BaptistChurch; Valley Cemetery.
