Will Book B p. 152 In the name of God Amen I BAZIL BENNETT of Spencer County being verry weak in body but of a disposing mind and memory thanks be to go but calling to mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed for al men once to die make & ordain this my last will and testament that is to say Principally and first of all I recommend my soul unto the hands of Allmighty God and my Body to the Earth to be Buried in a decent manner at the Discretion of my Executor not doubting but at the General Resurrection I shall Receive the same again by the mity power of GoD and as touching such worldly Estate whereoff it has pleased GoD to Bless me with in this life I give and dispose of the same in the following manner and form. first it is my disire that ll my Just debts be paid out of my estate by my Executor who is wherein after mentioned. second it is my desire that my wife MATILDA BENNETT shall shall freely possess all my property of every description that I own as long as she remains my widow and if she should marry again then in that case she is to own only what the law will allow her and the Ballance to be Equally divided amongst my children Except LEATHY and HARVEY, LEATHY sixty dollars less and HARVY thirty five less than the rest of my children the cause is that they have Received that amount previous to the time of ____. I do appoint MATILDA BENNETT my wife my Executrix to have this my last will and testament faithfully Executed. READMAN (REDMAN) Recorded 8 March 1830 Spencer Co. KY Court Inventorey returned 18 March 1834 by JOS. REDMAN, REUBEN DALE and JONAH REASOR. This should be Basil BENNET b. 20 Jun 1782, Cox Creek, Nelson Co. KY who married Matilda DRAKE 1 April 1806 Nelson Co. KY. Said to have been one of the sons of John & Lucy BENNETT and wife Matilda was the daughter of John DRAKE and Rebecca HEADY of Spencer Co. & Nelson Co. KY. Basil's sister Hannah married Joseph STILLWELL... Matilda Drake HEADY's Grandmother was a STILLWELL.. The COXS, STILLWELLS, TRUAX, WARFORD, GOODWINS had all known each other prior to KY (back in SW PA and some of them in NJ before that) . Does anyone know if these BENNETS go back with them pre-KY.
