Spencer County KY Will Book A p. 265

In the name of God amen I JOHN GOODWINE of Spencer County & State of Kentucky 
being weak in body but in perfect mind and memory do make & ordain this my last 
will and testament  first of all I recommend by Body to the dust of the earth 
from whence it was taken and my soul to God who gave it and as touching earthly 
matters I leave my estate Both real and personal in the following manner to 
wit.  

It is my will and desire that all my negros be liberated and set Free by my 
Executors hereafter to be named at the following times & periods:

SOLOMON is to serve three years after my decease and then he is to be free 

ALSA is to serve five years after my decease and she is to free an al ALSES 
increase that she now has or may hereafter have are to be free, the Boys at 
twenty seven years of age and the girls at twenty five and should the girls 
have any increase before they are twenty five years old their Increase are to 
go free with them.

And it is my will that my executors  my executors sell my land and all my 
personal estate and hire out my negroes or sell them for the time they have to 
serve and after paying all my Just debts and funeral expences It is my Desire 
that the money be equally divided amongst my heirs except MARTHA and the 
hundred Dollars that JAMES HEADY has got in his hands is to be counted in her 
part .

and its my will that JAMES COLLINGS as he was always  owned by my son HEADY get 
equal portion with the rest of my heirs and it is my will that my son THOS. 
GOODWINE, JOHN GOODWINE and ELIAS GOODWINE by executor Desanuling all former 
wills and this only to be my last will and Testament whre of I have set my hand 
and Seal this 23 August 1825.  Signed sealed and deliver in the presence of 
STEPHEN BEARD and JOHN STONE.
