Will Book A p. 372 In the name of god Amen I WILLIAM HUGHS of Spencer County Kentucky being weak in body but perfect in mind and memory thanks be given unto god calling in mind the mortality of my boddy knowing that it is appointed unto all men once to die this I do ordain to be my last will and testament principally first of all I give and recommend my boddy unto the earth to be buried in a christian like manner at the direction of my Executors and my soul unto the hands of the almighty god who gave it nothing doubting but at the general resurrection I shall receive the same again by the mighty power of god. Secondly I wish all of my just debts to be paid. Item: I give and bequeath unto my son JOHN HUGHS one Shilling Item I give and bequeath unto my son JESSEY HUGHS one Shilling Item I give and bequeath unto my son HEZEKIAH HUGHS one hundred dollars Item I give and bequeath unto my daughter CATHARINE CROSS my bed and bed clothes amounting to ten pieces including the pillows Item I give an bequeath unto my son WILLIS HUGHES one Shilling Item I give and bequeath unto my son URIAH HUGHES one shilling Item Be it fairly and plainly understood that it is moreover my will and desire that my black man CATESBY shall after paying to my son HEZEKIAH HUGHES the one hundred dollars as above specified as being willed to my said son HEZEKIAH HUGHS shall then and there be free also that he shall --- (looks like pale) in and enclose the graves which shall contain the remains of my self and my wife MILDRED HUGHS. My Son-in-Law JOHN DUNCAN is to also be satisfied for my board and expenses during my illness at the house of himself and my daughter PRUDENCE DUNCAN it being from the 21st day of April 1832 until the Wh----tide following Ratifying and confirming this to be my last will and Testament disannulling all other and former wills, legacies and bequeaths in testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this 4 Nov 1832 (signed) WM.
