It is assumed that AMSTER DUDLEY ROBERTS was born and raised in Nicholas County, KY. During the Civil War he was with Morgan's Raiders and on one expedition, he met URSLEY (URSULA) HOBBS in Lee Co., VA at her plantation home and returned there after the war and married her. A.D. Roberts was born September 10, 1839, died May 15, 1915. Ursula Hobbs Roberts was born Aug. 1, 1844; died April 6, 1913. Both are buried on White Oak Creek, Major, Owlsley Co., KY, on the Brack Rowland farm, on a hill, not far from fork of creek, about 3/4 miles from the location of old Major Post Office. A.D. Roberts was elected as a KY Democratic Senator in 1897 and served in the 1898 and 1900 sessions of the General Assembly. He was also a Minister of the Christian Church for many years. His ancestral linkage goes back to that of Margaret Roberts Thatcher, Prime Minister of Great Britain. Also to that of Justice Roberts of the U.S. Supreme Court.
