Reed Certificate: #448500 Declaration for Widow's Pension Application State of Kentucky County of Taylor On this 6th day of January, A. D. one thousand eight hundred and ninety sever, personally appeared before me a County Court Clerk for the ____ within and for he county and State aforesaid Mary C. Reed, aged 73 years, a resident of the ____ of _____, county of Green, State of Kentucky, who being duly sworn according to the law, declares that she is the widow of James Reed, who enlisted under the name of James Reed at _____, on the 7th day of September A. D. 1861 in Co I 19 Regiment of Kentucky Infantry and served at least ninety days in the late War of the Rebellion, in the service of the United States; was Honorably Discharged on 26 Jany 1865, and died at his home in Green County, KY on the 5th day of November 1896. That the soldier was never in the Military or Naval service of the United States except as above stated except a soldier in the Mexican War. That she was married under the name of Mary C. Parent, to said James Reed, on the 8th day of October 1846 by Henson Thomas, M G at in Washington County, KY there being no legal barrier to said marriage. That she has not remarried since the death of said James Reed. That she has heretofore applied for pension and the number of her former application is she never applied before. That she makes this declaration for the purpose of being placed on the pension rolls of the United States under the provisions of the Act of June 27, 1890. She hereby appoints C. W. Wright, of Campbellsville State of Kentucky, her true and lawful attorney to prosecute her claim and receive a fee of $750. That her post-office address is now Campbellsville county of Taylor, State of Kentucky. Mary C. Reed (her mark) Attest: John T. Moss R. E. Jeter Also personally appeared John T. Reed claimant, sign her name (or make her mark) to the foregoing declaration; that they have every reason to believe from the appearance of said claimant and an acquaintance with her of 1 years and 20 respectively, that she is the identical person she represents herself to be; and that they have no interest in the prosecution of this claim.
