Funeral services were conducted Wednesday afternoon at 2 p.m. from the Lyon 
Funeral Home Chapel for Mrs. Nellie Hiestand Hord, widow of G.W. Hord, who 
died Monday, Dec. 17, at her home on Duffey Ave., after a short illness.  Mrs. 
Hord was a member of one of Taylor County oldest families, a sister of the 
late Dr. C.V. Hiestand who died last January at the age of 90.  She was 94 
last May 25.  Mrs. Hord was born in Taylor County, the daughter of the late 
Mary Rucker and Ferdinand Jacob Hiestand.  She was a devoted member of the 
Campbellsville Baptist Church and was instrumental in the founding of the 
South Campbellsville Baptist Church and taught Sunday School classes in both 
churches for many years.  She is survived by five daughters and one son, Mrs. 
Aubrey Peterson, Mrs. R.S. Bailey and Mrs. David Mitchell, Mrs. Muriel 
Lippincott, all of Campbellsville, Kentucky, Mrs. Charles B. Steger, Sharon, 
Pa., and Retired Rear Admiral Paul Hord, of Borrego Springs, California.  Also 
nine grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.  Two children, two brothers and 
four sisters preceded her in death.  Brothers were Dr. C.V. Hiestand and Bruce 
Hiestand, sisters were Mrs. Lora Crittenden, Mrs. Violet Smith, Mrs. Sallie 
Ramsey and Mrs. Daisy McGhee.  Services were conducted by Dr. J. Chester 
Badgett, Dr. J.L. Robinson and Dr. Harvey Morrison with burial in Brookside 
Cemetery.  Pallbearers were George Willis, Robert L. Wise, Doyle Hiestand, Ray 
Borders, David Hiestand Mitchell and Marvin Wiley.
