She died of a heart attack at Rosary Hospital, Campbellsville. A teacher for 45 years, she had served in Taylor County and Campbellsville schools, Campbellsville College and old Russell Creek Academy. When she retired, she was director of student personnel of the Campbellsville city school system. She was a niece of the late Dr. C. V. Hiestand. Death claimed the life of a veteran school teacher, Mrs. Aubrey Hord Peterson, Friday, Jan. 14 [1966] at 2:10 p.m. at the Rosary Hospital. Death was due to coronary occlusion. Mrs. Peterson, 71 years of age, lived at 503 Duffey St. Born in Taylor County, she was the daughter of Llewlyn Maude Hiestand and George W. Hord. She had been in the teaching profession in Taylor County and Campbellsville for about 45 years, having taught first in the Taylor County rural schools; for about 15 years in Campbellsville College then the Old Russell Creek Academy where she taught Home Economics and other subjects. She was also connected with the City School System as Teacher and Librarian, later assuming the Director of Student Personnel for ten years. She retired in June 1965. Mrs. Peterson was a member of one of two of Taylor Counties oldest families, the Hiestand and Hord families. Her mother, Mrs. G. W. Hord, was one of the organizers of the South Campbellsville Baptist Church. ! Mrs. Peterson has been a member of the Campbellsville Baptist Church since childhood. She was married to Edmon Penn Peterson, who died in 1940. Survivors are four sisters, Mrs. Cassie (R.S.) Bailey and Mrs. Eva (D.W.) Mitchell, both of Campbellsville; Mrs. Muriel Lippincott, Burkesville and Mrs. Gladys (Chas. B) Steger, Sharon, Pa. Two brothers and one sister preceded her in death, Adm. Paul Hord, Bryan Hord, and Bernice Hord. Funeral services were conducted at the Lyon Funeral Home Chapel Monday, Jan. 17 at 2:30 p.m. by Dr. Chester Badgett with burial in Brookside Cemetery.
