Funeral services for George Thomas Smith, 76 years of age, were held Sunday, July 1, at the Cumberland Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Alfred Erickson in charge, assisted by Rev. R. L. Sleamaker. Burial was in Brookside. Mr. Smith, a well known farmer of Route 5, died at his home Friday following a stroke. He was a native of the county and was a member of the Shiloh Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Lucy Smith, a son and three daughters, Mrs. Clyde Shipp, Mrs. H. J. Craig and Mrs. George Griffin, and John Smith, all of Taylor County. He also leaves a grandchild, three great-grandchildren, two brothers and a sister: Willie Smith, Montana, Elias Smith, California, and Miss Emma Smith, of Harrodsburg. The pallbearers were Hugh McCubbin, Henry Turner, Arthur Hayes, Redman Turner, Howard Simpson and John McCubbin. The honorary were: D.L. Goff, Ernest Speer, Dave Speer, Otha Spurling, Johnnie Miller, Nathan McCubbin, Albert Miller, Robert Hord! , Allison Ship, Harry Gwinn, Jesse Eubank, Cecil Goff, Shelby Lee and Ray Hord.
