Joseph Melton of Spurlington Saturday morning. Other Deaths Saturday morning at nine o'clock, Benedict Joseph Melton of Spurlington in this county, passed over to the other shore after a season of severe suffering. Mr. Melton was among Taylor county's most beloved citizens, being a true Christian and an untiring friend to his neighbors and family. He was born near Jericho in this county and has lived all his life within a few miles of the spot of his birth. He married Miss Mary Susan Shively and to this union no children were born. She died several years ago and he afterwards married Miss Mary Newton. Of this union the following children with their mother survive: Miss Cordia Melton, Charles, Benedict, Dave James, and Frank Melton. On last Monday morning the funeral was held at the Catholic church at Spurlington, when mass was said by the Rev. Father Wright of Finley and the burial followed in the Catholic cemetery. The large number of friends and relatives who attended the funeral of Mr. Melton attested the high esteem held by them of this good man. The bereaved family have the sincere sympathy of a large number of friends in their great loss.
