Submitted by Debbie Dicken Mr. Herbert Veatch, 82, a retired farmer of the Tallow Creek Community in Taylor County, Campbellsville, Route 6, son of the late Mr. George Smith Veatch and Mrs. Emma Clark Veatch, was born in Taylor County, Kentucky, February 28, 1892. He died suddenly at 10:00 a.m., Sunday, December 29, at his home. He had professed faith in Christ early in life and was a member of the Tallow Creek United Methodist Church. He united in marriage to Miss Sylvia Minor, May 4, 1910. To this union three sons and two daughters were born. Mr. Ezra Veatch preceded his father in death September 10, 1929. Mrs. Naomi Pike preceded her father in death February 9, 1944. Besides his wife, Mrs. Sylvia Minor Veatch, surviving are: Mr. William Veatch of Campbellsville, Mr. Edgar Veatch of Campbellsville, Route 4, and Mrs. Etta Spurling of Campbellsville, Route 6. He is also survived by fourteem grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 31, at the Parrott and Ramsey Funeral Home in Campbellsville by Rev. Shiley Beard and Rev. Gerald Armstrong. Burial was in Tallow Creek Cemetery. Pallbearers: James C. Lacy, James Skaggs, Delmer Sallee, Luther Veatch, Harold Morris, and Dennis Corbin. Unknown Taylor Co. newspaper, no dateline.
