Penticost of the County of Trigg, and State of Kentucky, of the one part, and Gregory D. Johnson Senr. of the county & state aforesaid of the other part. Witnesseth, that the said John C. Penticost for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred and eighty dollars in hand paid, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath bargained, grant, and sell, and do by these presents doth grant, bargain and sold, unto the said Gregory D. Johnson Senr, his heirs and assigns all that tract or parcel of land situate and being in the county of Trigg on Crooked Creek, a branch of Cumberland river, and being bounded as follows, towit: Beginning on two hickories and a black walnut standing near a line of Oho. Anderson’s, thence with the same South 70° E 67 pole, to two white oak, thence S. 10º W. 146 poles to two post oaks, on a point of a ridge, thence S. 20° E. 318. To four post oaks and two hickories, thence N. 60º W. 86 poles to six cherry trees on the side of a branch, thence N 30° W. 238 poles to a stake, thence N. 10º E. 210. to the beginning. Containing one hundred and eighty acres, be the same more or less, together with all and singular the appertenances thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining. To have and to hold the land hereby conveyed, with the appurtenances unto the said Gregory D. Johnson Senr. his heirs and assigns for ever, the said John C. Penticost for himself, his heirs administrators and executors the aforesaid tract or parcel of land and appertenances unto the said Gregory D. Johnson Senr. his heirs and assigns against the claim or claims of all land every person or persons whatsoever doth warrant and will for ever defend by these presents In witness whereof the said John C. Penticost hath hereunto set his hand and affixed his seal the day and date first above written Signed, Sealed, and § Delivered in the § John C. Penticost (Seal) Presence of us § F. Jameson § M. Johnson § Commonwealth of Kentucky § Trigg County § Sct. I, William Gannon, Clerk of the County Court for the county aforesaid, do hereby certify, that this deed from John C. Penticost to Gregory D. Johnson Senr. was produced to me, in my office, on the 24th day of August, 1830 and proven before me, by the oath of M. Johnson, a Subscribing witness thereto to be the act and deed of said John C. Penticost, the grantors, and on this 20th day of September, 1830, the same was again fully proven before me by the oath of F. Jameson, the other subscribing witness. Whereupon said deed together with the foregoing certificate hath been duly admitted to record in my office. Given under my hand this 20th day of September, 1830. Will Gannon, C.T.C.C.
