Penticost of the County of Trigg, and Commonwealth of Kentucky of the one part, and Gregory D. Johnson Senr. of the county & Commonwealth aforesaid of the other part. Witnesseth, that the said John C. Penticost for and in Consideration of the sum of three hundred and seven dollars in hand paid, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath granted, bargained, and sold, and by these presents doth grant, bargain and sell unto the said Gregory D. Johnson Senr. his heirs and assigns all that tract or parcel of land situate and being in the county of Trigg on the Tennessee River, and bounded as follows, towit: Beginning four small black gums, thence S. 65° W. 92 poles to a red oak and hickory standing on the north bank of the Tennessee river, thence down the river its meanders N. 36 W. 292 poles to four small hickories standing on the bank of the river thence N. 60° E. 80 poles to two hickories and two black gums, thence S. 35º E. 124 poles to a poplar and two white oaks, thence N 82° E. 48 poles to two hickories and a sweet gum, thence S. 66º E. 36 poles to two gums and an elm, thence N 21º E. 38 poles to two white oaks, thence N 41º E 180 poles to a black oak and black walnut, thence S. 75º E. 44 poles to a black walnut and two elms, thence S. 7º E. 40 poles to two black gums, thence S. 20º W. 186 poles to two red oaks, thence S. 79º W. 90 poles to the beginning containing three hundred and seven acres be the same more or less, together with all and singular the appertenances thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining. To have and to hold the land hereby conveyed, with the appertenances unto the said Gregory D. Johnson Senr. his heirs or assigns for ever. The said John C. Penticost for himself, his heirs, executors and administrators the aforesaid tract of land and appurtenances unto the said George (sic Gregory) D. Johnson Senr. his heirs or assigns against the claim or claims of all and every person or persons whatsoever, doth and will for ever warrant and defend by these presents In Witness whereof the said John C. Penticost hath hereunto set his hand and affixed his seal the day and date first above written. Signed, Sealed, and § Delivered in the § John C. Penticost (Seal) Presence of us § F. Jameson § M. Johnson § Commonwealth of Kentucky § Trigg Count § Sct. I, William Gannon, Clerk of the County Court for the county aforesaid, do hereby certify, that this deed from John C. Penticost to Gregory D. Johnson Senr. was produced to me, in my office, on the 24th day of August, 1830, and proven before me, by the oath of M. Johnson, a Subscribing witness thereto to be the act and deed of said John C. Penticost, the grantor, and on this 20th day of September, 1830, the same was again fully proven before me by the oath of F. Jameson, the other subscribing witness. Whereupon said deed together with the foregoing certificate hath been duly admitted to record in my office. Given under my hand this 20th day of September, 1830. Will Gannon, C.T.C.C.
