Penticost of the county of Trigg and Commonwealth of Kentucky of the one part, and Gregory D. Johnson Senr. of the County and Commonwealth of Kentucky of the other part. Witnesseth that the said John C. Penticost for and in consideration of the sum of eighty eight dollars in hand paid, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, hath granted, bargained and sold, and by these presents doth grant, bargain and sell unto the said Gregory D. Johnson Senr his heirs and assigns all that tract or parcel of land, situate and being in the county of Trigg and on the waters of Tennessee River, and bounded as follows, to wit: Beginning on an ash and two black gums, corners to E. Reynold’s, and running with his line S. 60º E 36 poles crossing a branch at 20, and one at 16 poles to two elms and two hickories, thence East with a branch 40 poles to two Sassafras and two cherry trees, thence North 20 poles to a white oak and black - thence N. 32º W. 20 poles to two white oaks, thence N. 21º. E. 20 poles to an elm, hickory, and white oak, thence N. 35º E. 40 poles to a white oak, thence N. 42º E 82 poles to three sugar trees, and three white oaks on the bank of a branch, thence N. 14º E 50 poles to three sugar trees and ironwood, thence north 30 poles to three post oaks on the point of a narrow hill, thence West 78 poles crossing a branch at 50 poles to three post oaks, thence South 32º W. 215 poles to the beginning containing eighty eight acres, be the same more or less, together with all and Singular the appurtenances thereunto belonging or in anywise appertaining. To have and to hold the land hereby conveyed, with the appurtenances unto the said Gregory D. Johnson Senr. his heirs and assigns for ever, and the said John C. Penticost for himself his heirs, executors and administrators the aforesaid tract of land and appurtenances unto the said Gregory D. Johnson Senr his heirs or assigns against the claim or claims of all and every person or persons whatsoever doth and will for ever warrant and defend by these presents. In Witness whereof the said John C. Penticost hath hereunto set his hand and Seal the date first above written. Signed, Sealed § and delivered § Jno. C. Penticost (Seal) in the presence § of us § F. Jameson M. Johnson Commonwealth of Kentucky § Trigg County § Sct. I, William Gannon, clerk of the County Court for the County aforesaid, do hereby certify, that this deed from John C. Penticost, Gregory D. Johnson Senr. was produced to me in my office, on the 24th day of August 1830, and proven before me, by the oath of M. Johnson, a Subscribing witness thereto, to be the act and deed of said John C. Penticost, the grantor, and on this 20th day of September, 1830, the Same was again fully proven before, by the oath of F. Jameson the other subscribing witness: certificate, hath been duly admitted to record in my office. Given under my hand this said 20th day of September 1830. Will Gannon, C.T.C.C.
