	THIS INDENTURE, made this 27th.day of December eighteen hundred and 
thirty nine between Shadrack Barnes of the County of Jefferson of Indiana of 
the one part and George Strother of the County of Trimble and Commonwealth 
of Kentucky of the other part Witnesseth, that the said Shadrack Barnes for 
and in consideration of eighteen dollars to him in hand paid the receipt 
whereof is hereby acknowledged hath granted, bargained and sold and by these 
presents doth grant, bargain and sell unto the said George Strother his heirs
and assigns his legacy or one childs part in the land of his father Benjamin 
Barnes deceased it being the one ninth part of fifty acres be the same more 
or less and lying and being in Trimble County on the waters of Corn Creek 
and bounded as follows Towit: Beginning at two beeches and sugar tree saplin in 
Cardwells line and south westcorner to Shadrack Barnes land now George 
Strother's land thence North seventy six degrees East with said Strothers and
Robert J.Kings line three hundred and twenty poles to a sugar tree corner to 
said King and in Samuel Underwoods line thence South fourteen degrees east 
with said Underwoods line twenty five poles to a white oak corner to John M. 
Pritchard thence south seventy six degrees West with said Pritchards and said 
Strothers line three hundred and twenty poles to an ash, two walnuts in 
George Cardwells now George Strothers line, thence said line North fourteen 
degrees west twenty five poles to the beginning containing fifty acres be 
the same more or less together with all and singular the appurtenances 
thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining.  To Have and to hold the 
said land hereby conveyed with the appurtenances unto the said George 
Strother his heirs and assigns forever, and the said Shadrack Barnes for 
himself, his heirs, executors, adminstrators and assigns the aforesaid tract 
of land and appurtenances unto the said George Strother his heirs and assigns
against the claim or claims of all and every person or persons whatsoever 
doth and will forever warrent and defend by these presents.  In witness 
whereof the said Shadrack Barnes hath hereunto set his hand and seal the day 
and date first above written.

	I James Latty Clerk of the County Court of Trimble County in the 
State of Kentucky do certify that the foregoing deed from Shadrack Barnes to 
George Strother was on the 20th.day of April 1840 produced to me in my office
and proven in part by the oath of William Barnes and on this day again 
produced to me and proven in full by the oath of Oliver C. Strother to be 
the act and deed of the said S.Barnes and said deed together with this 
certificate hath been duly admitted to record in my office.
	Given under my hand this 18th day of September 1840.
