Lynch (written in the margin: Delivered; 20 April 1857; Fees paid) THIS INDENTURE made and entered into this 13th day of January 1855 Between Edmund Bates of the first part & James T. Lynch of the Second part both of he County of Trimble & State of Kentucky Witnesseth that the Said Edmund Bates for and in consideration of the Sum of four hundred and twenty six dollars & thirty two cents in hand paid by the party of the first part the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged & for the further consideration of his promissary note bearing even date with this indenture for the sum of one hundred and seventy three dollars & sixty eight cents has & by these presents does grant bargain Sell convey & confirm unto the Said James Lynch his heirs & assigns forever the following tracts or parcels of land lying & being in the County of Trimble State of Kentucky & on the waters of Pryors fork and Bounded as follows ToWit first piece, Beginning at a red elm and a red Oak saplins on the east bank of Bennett Beech's branch in William Duncans field on Pryor's fork of corn creek thence with Said Duncans line South 76 degrees East six poles to a red oak thence N 60 E 40 poles to a hickory thence N 76 E 30 poles to a Stone thence N 1471 76 poles to a black walnut and two buckeyes on a branch thence down said branch S 69 1/2 W 22 poles to a large elm on Said Beeche's branch thence down said branch S 14 W 52 poles to a large Sycamore thence down Said branch S 21 W 26 poles to the beginning Containing twenty acres _____ Same more or less Also a second piece adjoining first and bounded as follows to wit, Beginning at an elm Sugar tree & ash thence S 14 E 138 poles to two sugartrees & walnut on the South fork of Corn Creek thence up said creek 55 poles to a sugartee & beech corner to Alexander Givens thence north 160 poles to a hickory & black locust thence S 60 W 18 poles to a Sugar & elm thence N 87 W 72 poles to the beginning containing fifty acres more or less. And also a third adjoining piece or tract known as the Tubs place supposed to contain twelve or fifteen acres be the same more or less And being in all one hundred acres more or less To have & to hold the Said tracts or parcels of land together with the priviliges & appurtenances to the same belonging or pertaining unto the Said James Lynch his heirs & assigns forever and the Said Edmund Bates for him his heirs Executors & Administrators hereby convenants and agrees to & with the Said James Lynch his heirs & assigns that he will warrant and forever defend the title of the aforesaid premises against the claim or claims of all and every person or persons lawfully claiming or to claim the same In testimony whereof the Said Edmund Bates has hereunto Set his hand & Seal this day & date first above written. his Edmund X Bates mark State of Kentucky} County of Trimble} Sct.
