MATILDA LYNCH Much Loved Lady Passes Away After Lingering Illness. After many long weeks of suffering Mrs. Matilda Lynch passed away at her home near Hisle, at 9:15 Wednesday morning, Feb. 5, 1910. For several years she had been an invalid, and at one time underwent an operation for cancer. This prolonged her life to some extent, but the disease had gone to far for a permanent cure. She was formerly Miss Matilda Joyce, and about 24 years ago was married to Mr. James T. Lynch, who has been dead for several years. Since girlhood she had been a member of the Baptist Church at Poplar Ridge, and a more consecrated christian woman never entered its portals. She had just passed her 59th birthday and all of her long and useful life was spent near the home where she died. She was loved and respected by every man, woman and child for miles around. She leaves one son, Homer and a number of step children all of whom are among the best citizens of the County. She is also survived by the following brothers and sisters: Messrs, Pliny, Robert, James and Frank Joyce; Mrs. Wm. Culver, Mrs. Geo. Averitt and Mrs. Robt. Rowlett. ev. B.T. Vincent conducted the funeral service at the Baptist Church in Bedford at 2 o'clock this afternoon and the interment was in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- (2) Another Newspaper clipping found in the Culver Family Bible Once more we have been remined that death is abroad in our land when it claimed for its victim Mrs. Matlida Lynch at 9 o'clock Feb., 9. Mrs. Lynch was born in Jefferson county, Ind., Dec. 23, 1850. Her maiden name was Miss Matilda Joyce. She moved to this county with her parents when a young girl. In early life she united with the Methodist church and was a good Christian girl. She was united in marriage to James T. Lynch Nov. 4, 1883. After her marriage she united with Baptist church with her husband at Poplar Ridge and has ever lived true to the faith. This union was blessed with one son, Homer T. Lynch. The son, five step-sons and several brothers and sisters survive. Mrs. Lynch was affected for several years with cancer. About a year ago it proved to be of a fatal nature. An operation was performed by Dr. Denny and for awhile was thought to be cured. Later developments proved serious.
