Will: Trimble Co, 1859: Bates Submitted by : Joy Mack Trimble County Courthouse Bedford, Kentucky Will Book 1, Pg. 188 Will of Abner Bates 1859 I Abner Bates of the county of Trimble and State of Kentucky being weak in body but of Sound Mind and disposing Memory do make this my last will and testament in manner and form as follows: Item 1st It is my will and desire that all of my just debts and burial expenses be first paid. Item 2nd After the payment of my just debts and burial expenses are paid it is my will and desire that my wife Phebe Bates have all of my Estate both real and personal for her own use and benefit So long as She may live. Item 3rd After the death of my wife It is my will and desire that all of my Estate be Equally divided among my two daughters Martha Averitt Nancy Hudson and my three grand children, children of my deceased daughter Susan Crafton and on the event of either of my Grand children to wit, Sarah Jane, Lucy and Newton Crafton Should die before they arrive at full age, It is my will and desire that the portion willed them should go to the Surviors or Survior Souly intence that my Grand children should have one third the portion that would have gone to their Mother if She had been living. and lastly I do appoint my beloved wife Phebe Bates Executrix to this my last will and testament revoking all other or former wills by me made & I request the court to permit my wife to qualify without giving Security.
