Will: John Reed: Trimble County: 1836 Submitter: Joy Mack email: cmuck@seidata.com Trimble County Courthouse Bedford, Kentucky Will Book 1 pg.51-52 Will of John Reed In the name of God Amen, I John Reed of Oldham county and State of Kentucky being sound mind but full of years and Knowing it is appointed unto all men one to die do ordain and establish this as my last will and testament revolting all others by me heretofore made. Item 1st I will and ordain that my son Gabriel Reed for his Kindness to me in the decline of years Shall my land that I now live upon and a Negro boy named Jack and a and a mare for his portion of my estate, Item 2nd I will futher that the remainder of my estate of Slaves Stock household and Kitchen furniture and all other property or claims I have whatever to be equally divided between my three daughters (to wit, Katharine Bell, Polly Wright and Elizabeth Hall and the heirs of their body, Item 3rd I will and bequeath to my daughter Nancy only one dollar for her disobedience and bad conduct otherwise. 4 I wish also for the especial confidence I repose in William Gatewood Esqr. my Neighbor and friend to see that this my last will and testament should be executed according to my above wishes. Wright State of Kentucky Trimble County Court December Term 1839 A writing purposting to be the last will and Testament of John Reed deceased was produced in Court whereupon Silas Gatewood a Subscribing witness being sworn States that said writing was Signed and acknowledged by the said John Reed dec'd as and for his last will and testament and that he believes he was of a sound disposing mind and memory at the time of Signing the same, and that it was signed by E.G. Wright & I S.
