Undergoes Surgery Clarence DeMoss, an employee of the Pittsburgh-Midway Coal Co. who was injured in the mines on September 17th, underwent major surgery for the amputation of the little finger on his right hand Tuesday morning. According to his family, he is resting comfortably. (I wonder if this is the same time as when he was caught between 2 mining cars and had his legs crushed, was in casts for months) {Next article} I want to thak everyone for the kind deeds while Clarence was in the hospital. Thanks to our family, to Mike and Sharon, Jim and Marie. No one could be more thoughtful to a mother and father. Also thanks to Calvin Hemp who provided transportation. Thanks to everyone. Committee, Milton Carter, Virgil Collins and Gary Bell Card of Thanks, from The Sturgis News, dated June 6, 1979 I would like to express my deepest thanks and apprectian to all of our friends who were so kind to me and my family during the death of my husband and loving father of our sons, Jim and Mike. I have been unable to send all of the cards of thanks to many of our friends who were so kind to me. To those who brought delicious food and sent the beautiful flowers, all I know to say is thanks. To the members of the Masonic Lodge, I appreciate the final rites given to Clarence. I was taken ill and could not be at the funeral home, but was told you gave a beautiful service. There were friends from our own church, Dekoven Methodist Church, as well as the other churches of Sturgis who were so kind. God gave me the honor of being his wife for nearly 35 years and the honor of being the mother of two wonderful sons. We also have three darling grandchildren whom he loved dearly. I pray God will guide their lives in the years to come. To our daughters-in-law, Sharon and Anna, I couldn't have made it through these past two weeks without them. So may God bless and keep you is my prayer. I will never forget the kindness and sympathy shown me then and now. Please accept my apology if I have failed to mention someone. Thanks again to everyone. Mrs. Sarah E.
