MARTHA ANN SELLERS Union County Girl Killed in Crash Morganfield, Ky.-(Special)- Martha Ann SELLERS, 18, of the Pride Community in Union County, was killed instantly about 4:20 p.m. yesterday in the head-on collision of a car and truck on Ky. 56 five miles east of here. Miss Sellers, a 1957 graduate of Sturgis High School, became Union County's fourth traffic fatality of the year when the car she was driving struck the bed of a truck driven by Burne L. Wells, 40, of Hopkinsville. Wells and Douglas Perkins, 45, also of Hopkinsville, a passenger in the truck owned by the Cayce Mills Supply Company were unhurt. State Trooper C. D. Henry said Miss SELLERS apparently lost control of her westbound car, which crashed into the left front corner of the van type truck. The impact ripped the top from Miss SELLERS, 1956 sedan. Trooper Henry said the girl, who was alone, was decapitated. The car, according to the trooper's report traveled about 110 feet beyond the point of impact. The truck, he said caromed about 100 feet down the highway before overturning. Wells told the trooper the accident occurred on a dry strip of pavement. The police report states there were no skid marks. Trooper Henry estimated the damage to the truck at $1,000. The car was demolished. Miss SELLERS' body was taken to Whitsell Funeral Home, Morganfield, later transferred to Tompkins Funeral Home, Sebree. Union County Coroner R. S. Clark scheduled an inquest for 10 a. m. today at Morganfield Surviving Miss SELLERS are her parents, Mr. and Roy SELLERS, of R. R. 1.
