    Surprise! That's what it was. A surprise 80th birthday party was given for
Brother George YATES by his children on March 28th at the DeKoven building.
All of "Pap's" family and friends were invited for the open house reception
and we had a great attendance. The theme for the party was "Aged to
Perfection" and that's how we see him.
    If you are wondering, he was surpised twice, once when he thought it was
just family and then when his church, lodge, school and coal mining friends
came in.
    All of Pap's children, Wanda, Bonnie, Linda, Shirley, Pete, Donnie, Jr.,
and Tommy were present as was Jiles, Anita, Vicki, John and Margaret. He
also had 22 of his grandchildren and 13 of his great grandchildren there.
    Thank you all so much for making this celebration so special. We all had a
great time.
