Obits on page 4. GARFIELD FRAZIER - 80, Sturgis, died Mon. Nov. 29 at his residence. Survived by his wife, Virties irginia Frazier of Evansville; one step daughter, Glenda J. Wilbourn of Evansville; one son, George Frazier of Louisville; two stepsons, James Weather and Larry Wilson, both of Evansville; three grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He was a retired coal miner from Peabody Coal Co. He enjoyed fishing and traveling. Services were held Thurs. Dec. 2 with burial in the Presbyterian Cemetery in Sturgis. HELEN COLLINS HUNT - 81, Danville, formerly of Union County, died Dec.2. She was born Aug. 23, 1918 in Union County to the late Jess and Ora O'Nan Collins. Preceded in death by husband Willard C. Hunt. Survived by two daughters, Nancy Ellis of Danville and Pam Kitchens of Gadsen, AL; four grandchildren and five greatgrandchildren. Graveside services were held Sat. Dec. 4 at Bellevue Cemetery in Danville. WALLENE MARTEN - 87, Sturgis, died Wed. Dec. 1 at Regional Medical Center in Madisonville. Preceded in death by her husband Walter in 1979. Survived by three step daughters, Betty Newcom of Sullivan, Janice Blackburn and Physs Parker, both of Sturgis; three sons, Charlie Johnson of Evanston, WY., Bill Johnson of Wheaton, MD and Bobby Johnson of St. Louis, MO; one step son, Eddie Martin of Sullivan; two sisters, Jo Allen of Morganfield and Imogene Cain of Sturgis; five grandchildren and three great grandchildren. She was a member of Cumberland Presbyterian Church, Dekoven Eastern Star, Kentucky Colonel and a member of Rebecca Lodge in Sturgis. Services were held Sat. Dec. 4 with burial in Pythian Ridge Cemetery in Sturgis. ELWOOD BUCKMAN - 85, Uniontown, died Sat. Dec. 12 at his residence. Preceded in death by his a sister Gertrude Hick. Survived by his wife of 60 years, Ona Buckman; one daugther, Ruth Ann Vanderpool of Henderson; one brother, William Buckman of Cape Girardeau, MO; two grandchildren, Grant and Duane of Henderson. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge # 219, the Eastern Star Chapter #274 in Uniontown. Services were Tues. Dec. 7 at Whitsell Funeral Home with burial in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Morganfield. KATHY COLLINS HODGES - died in Mooseville, NC. She is survived by five children. Mrs. Hodges was the daughter of Graves and Shirley Mansfield Collins. Services were Nov. 24 at the Neill Funeral Home in Mooseville, NC. DAVID GUY HILLYARD - 73, of Corydon, died Mon. Dec. 6, on Bridwell Farms in Henderson of an apparent heart attack. He was a 47 year member of Bennett Memorial United Methodist Church, where he had been a Methodist youth counselor and former member of the Administrative Council. He was retired from the Henderson Post Office after more than 20 years of service, and was a WWII US Navy Veteran, having served on Admiralty Island. He also was a former co-owner of Kelly Energy Oil Co and was co-owner of Diet Center. Survived by his wife of 26 years, Helen Griggs Hillyard; six daughters, Joyce Lutz, Ginger Lambert, Judy Cavins, Vicki Woodruff, Sandra Thomas and Lynn Steinwachs, all of Henderson; one son, Logan Curtis Hillyard of Lexington; two sisters, Georgia Mitchem of Evansville and Louvena Larimore of Logansport, IN; eight grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by husband Pascal Farthing in 1978. Survived by four sisters, Mary Carrier of Sturgis, Lorene Newcom of Henderson, Dorothy Russelburg of Morganfield and Aminelle Bailey of Kenton, OH; three brothers, Doris Griffin and Bobby Griffin of Henderson, and Illof Griffin of Mayfield. Services were Mon. Dec. 27, at Whitsell Funeral Home in Sturgis with burial in Pythian Ridge Cemetery. NACE WALLER MASON - 78, Sturgis, died Sat. Dec. 25, 1999 at Deaconess Hospital of heart failure. He was a retired farmer. Survived by his wife Annelle; one son, Bob Mason of Cabery, IL., one brother, Murray Mason of Sturgis; and three grandchildren. Services were Tues. Dec. 28 at St. Ambrose Church with burial in St. Agnes Cemetery in Uniontown. MARY A. LADD - 69, Sturgis died Sun. Dec. 26, 1999 at St. Mary's Medical Center, Welborn Campus from a stroke. She was a member of Sturgis Methodist Church and Ladies Auxillary. Survived by her husbadn, James; two daughters, Carolyn Ann Thurston and Nancy Hunt of Sturgis; one sister, Lou Johnson of Louisvlle; three brothers, Geroge Brown Jr of Clay, Ray of Cincinnati, OH., and James of Swanton, OH; 4 grandchildren. Services were Tues. Whitsell Funeral Home, Sturgis with burial in Pythian Ridge Cemetery. AARON "MOUSIE" LOGAN - 74 of Sturgis died Mon. Dec, 27, at Deaconess Hospital. He was a member of Sturgis First Baptist Church. Born Sept. 15, 1925 in Union County to Thurman Logan and Dora (Jones) Logan. Preceded in death by three brothers, Thurman in 1968, Leon in 1987 and Wesley in 1997. Survived by his wife of 47 years, Sarah; two son, Gary of Sturgis and Bruce of Bowling Green; 4 grandchildren, Ryan , Rachel, Jason and Alex. Services were today at Whitsell Funeral Home in Sturgis with burial in Pythian Ridge Cemetery. WILBUR M. SIMPSON - 77 of Sturgis, died Sun. Dec. 26, 1999 at Union County Methodist Hospital. Survived by his wife Helen; six daughters Yvonne Ward of Paducah, Tami Sanders of Linden, VA., Connie Simpson of Sturgis, Regina Parker and Renee Simpson both of Henderson, and Alicia Maddox of Riverside, CA; three sons, Robert, Wilbur Jr., and Johnny Ray, all of Sturgis; one sister, Verna Shelton of Evansville; two nieces , two nephews, and one cousin, 18 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. Services were Sun. Jan 2, 2000 at Phillips Chapel, C.M.E. Church Sturgis with burial in Presbyterial Cemetery in Sturgis. MARY ELLEN GENTRY - 97 of Morganfield, formerly of Madisonville, died Sun. Dec. 26, 1999 at Methodist Hospital Union County. Born in Hopkins County on Oct. 16, 1902. She was a member of Pride Baptist Church. Preceded in death by her parents, Annie Elizabeth Russell Ramsey and Lacy Ramsey, her husband Roy Lee Gentry on Jan. 14, 1975, a grandson, Roy David Robards, 4 sisters and 3 brothers. Survived by one daugther, Mrs. David C. (Betty) Robards ofMorganfield; two brothers, Maurice Ramsey of Madisonville and Loyd Ramsey of Richland; one granddaughter, Mrs. Tommy (Sandra) Collins of St. John, IN; two great grand son, Wayne Collins of Chandler, AZ and Rob Collins of St. John, IN; and several nieces and nephews. Services were today at Harris Funeral Home in Madisonville with burrial in Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Madisonville.
