Mr. Back was of Baptist faith, retired coal miner, and a 38 year member of Nortonville Masonic Lodge #602. Survivors include his wife, Lois Back; two daughters, Diana Owens, and Sharon DeMoss, both of Sturgis; one son, Danny Back of Sturgis; two sisters, Mary Somers of Mannington, and Margaret Naylor of Eldorado, IL; two brothers, Lonnie Back of Mannington, and Onnie Back of Nortonville, KY; four grandchildren, Randy Owens, Kristie Slaton, Brandon Back and Brittany Back, all of Sturgis; and one great grandchild, Dalton Slaton also of Sturgis. Services were at 2pm Friday at Whitsell Funeral Home in Sturgis with Rev. Clifton Vandiver officiating. Burial was in Grangertwon Cemetery. BOYD E. CURRY Boyd E. Curry, 70, Waverly, died Tuesday, June 3rd at 10:15am at his residence. Mr. Curry was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church in Waverly. Survivors include his wife, Arletta C. Curry, one daughter, Shirley A. Curry of Henderson; four sons, Thomas E. Curry of Morganfield, Wilie I. Curry of Henderson, Remus E. Curry of Carrier Mills, IL, and Mark A. Curry of Henderson' three sisters, Martha Houston, Gertrude Smith and Mary E. Smith, all of Waverly; two brothers, Leo Curry and Joe Curry, both of Waverly; eight grandchildren and several great grandchildren. Services were at 10:00am at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Waverly with Fr. Anthony Zeigler officiating. Burial was in St. Peter's Cemetery in Waverly. RASHAUD J. ALLEN Rashaud J. Allen, 7 month old son of Melissa Small and Russel J. Allen of Henderson died at 4:52 am Sunday at Community Methodist Hospital. Survivors in addition to the parents include one brother, Raekwon Allen at home; his grandparents, Virginia J. Small of Reed and David Huebner of Reed; and his great grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. James Perry of Henderson and Mr. & Mrs. Jimmie Roberson of Morganfield. Services will be 10am today at Benton - Glunt Funeral Home. The Rev. Joe Allen will officiate. Burial will be in Fernwood Cemetery. Friends may call today after 8am until funeral time. MARY RAY Mary Ray, 93, of Evansville, formerly of Caseyville, died Saturday at Boonville, IN Convalescent Center. She was preceded in death by her brother James A. Ray of Sturgis in April 1997. She retired in 1970 after 40 years at the Fendrich Cigar Factory. She was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church. Surviving are nieces and nephews. Services were at 10am Tuesdsay at Alexander Newburgh Chapel, Monsignor Kenneth R. Knapp officiated. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Christ the King Church building fund. ALICE WALKER RAY Alice Walker Ray, 82, formerly of Sturgis, died May 30. Mrs. Ray graduated from Sturgis High School and while living here, she was a member of the First Christian Church of Sturgis. Survivors include two daughters, Vivian Hicks and Patricia Turne; and one son, James Ray; grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Services were Monday, June 2 at the First Christian Church in St. Ann, MO. THOMAS F. MOREHEAD Thomas F. Morehead, 80, Sturgis, died Tuesday at 8:10am at the Harrisburg Medical Center in Harrisburg, IL. Mr. Morehead was a member of the United States Methodist Church in Sturgis. Survivors include one niece, Pam Cambron of Rocky Mountain, NC; one sister Martha Williams; and one brothers, James Edgar Morehead, both of Sturgis. PERCY RICHARD ADAMSON Percy Richard Adamson, 71, Evansville, did at 11:55am Thursday at St. Mary's Medical Center. He was a member of Nativity Catholic Church. He retired from Whirlpool Corp. in 1987 and was a member of the Knights of St. John, St. Joseph Commander, No. 306. Survivors include his wife of 46 yers, Agnes French Adamson; one daughter, Angela Brandenburg of Evansville; two sons, Tom Adamson and Glenna Adamson of Evansville; three sisters, Florine Johnson and Doris Timmons, both of Morganfield, and Mae Moore of Evansville; five brothers, Robert Adamson, Hodge Adamson and Roger "Pud" Adamson, all of Morganfield, Charles Adamson of Grove Center, and Jack Adamson of Sturgis; eight grandchildren; and one great grandchild. Services were at 9:30am Saturday at Miller & Miller Colonial Chapel, 219 E. Franklin St., Evansville, continuing with a funeral mass at 10:00. The Rev. Henry Kuykendall officiated. Burial was in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Evansville. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Nativity Catholic Church. CHARLES E. "SLICK" QUERTERMOUS Charles E. "Slick" Quertermous, age 64 of Conroe, Texas, formerly of Sturgis died Monday evening at his home in Conroe. Survivors include his wife, Joyce; one son Rocky and two daughters, Vicky Kee and Sherry Brown, all of Texas; one sister, Lula B. Viernum of Peoria, IL., and five grandchildren. He is survived locally by several cousins, nieces and nephews. He was the son of the late Jess and Allie Quertermous. Arrangements are being handled by the Metcalfe Funeral Home in Conroe. ROSA ELLEN CHATMAN Rose Ellen Chatman, 101, Carmi, IL, formerly of Morganfield, died at 6:20pm Thursday at Welborn White County Skill Care. She was preceded in death by her husband, Cleveland, who died in 1974. Survivors include one daughter, Margaret Doughtery of Carmi; one sister in law, Vada Adler of Henderson; seven grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; 20 great great grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Robert Earl Kellen Sr., 81, Sturgis, died Tuesday at 6:05am at his residence on Grant Street. Mr. Kellen is retired from the Civil Service, US Governement. He was a member of the Sturgis United Methodist Church, a member of the Masonic Lodge, a 32 degree mason, member of Rizpah Temple, Sturgis Odd Fellows, A Kentucky Colonel, a former city councilman, and he also served as Mayor Protem, he was also president of the Sturgis Chapter of 3 C's. He is preceded in death by his wife, Elvira, who died in 1994. Survivors include three daughters, Karen Brantley of Marion, KY., Hanna VanHoose of Taylor, MI., and Mary Virginia Kellen of Sturgis; two brothers, Joseph Melvin Kellen of Flint, MI and James Kellen of Paducah, KY. Services were held at the Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Sturgis. Burial will be in Pythian Ridge Cemetery. The time is pending. WILLIAM WESLEY LOGAN Willam Wesley Logan, 75, of Henderson, formerly of Sturgis, died at 11:30 pm Sunday at his home. He was a founding partner in Collins and Logan CPA firm, which is presently Campbell, Royster, Carver and Company. He was also a World War II Marine Veteran, having earned a Silver Star. Survivors include his wife of almost 50 years, Gwen Petry Logan; two daughters, Susan Logan Nelson of Grand Forks, North Dakota, and and Becky Logan McGinnis of Virginia Beach, Virginia; one brother, Aaron Douglas Logan of Sturgis; five grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Services will be at 10am Thursday at Rudy-Rowland Funeral Home. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Henderson. Nasbitt, 22, Uniontown, died Wednesday, June 18 at 10:30am at Welborn Baptist Hospital in Evansville due to an accidental gunshot wound. Survivors include his parents, Charles and Brenda Nasbitt of Uniontown, his fiancee, Heather Miller of Corydon; his grandmother, Ida Mae Byrd of Uniontown; a half sister, Sherry Duckworth Nally of Uniontown; and a half brothers, Kenneth James Nasbitt of Mt. Vernon, IN. Services wer at 2pm Friday at Whitsell Funeral Home in Morganfield. Burial was in Walnut Grove Cemetery in Union County. MRS. WILLIE BELL ROSE Mrs. Willie Bell Rose, 69, Morganfield, died Friday, at 6:20am at Medco of Morganfield. She was a member of Macedonia Freewill Baptist Church in Morganfield. Mrs. Rose was a long time Morganfield resident. She is preceded in death by her husband, Wesley Rose in 1996 and a daughter, Norma J. rose in 1990. Survivors include six daugthers, Anna Bell Brown, Gloria M. Tansley, Shirley A. Rose, Deloise M. Garnett, Brenda James, and Mary J. Mack, all of Morganfield; three sons, William H., James W., and Robert E., all of Morganfield; two sisters, Daisy Rose of Henderson, and Nora Lee Smith of Morganfield; 19 grandchildren adn nine great grandchildren. Services were Tuesday at 1pm at Macedonia Freewill Baptist Church. Burial was in Odd Fellow Cemetery. THOMAS D. "BIG TOM" MILLER Thomas D. "Big Tom" Miller, 52, Morganfield, died Friday at 3:30am at his residence in Morganfield. Survivors include his wife, Joyce Miller; two daughters, Sharon Russell of Marion, and Mary Rigdon of Morgafield; one son, Pee Wee Miller of Morganfield; two sisters, Lois Raymer of Frankfort and Joyce Compton of Leitchfield, Ky and 15 grandchildren. Services were at 10am Tuesday at Watkins Funeral Home in Leitchfield. Burial was in Fernwood Cemetery in Henderson.
